SISTERS OF CHARITY FOUNDATION AWARDS $939,281

Canton, Ohio (June 2, 2021) The Board of Directors of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton has announced $939,281 in grants for the first and second quarters of 2021.

Foundation President Joni Close stated, “The first and second quarter grants were awarded through the Foundation’s grantmaking process, focusing on areas of interest related to our mission and goals. Along with those grants, the Board approved a special round of grants in the amount of $408,012 for summer enrichment programming to help mitigate student’s learning losses from the pandemic.

The following are the first and second quarter grants awarded:

Responsive Efforts: Our commitment to respond to specific or short-term community needs. Total: $381,269

Adaptive Sports Program of Ohio , to support the purchase of Everyone Plays Starter Kits, over two years

Catholic Charities of Portage and Stark Counties , to support the Emergency Assistance and Adult Day Services programs

$50,000

Faith in Action of Western Stark County , to provide transportation services for senior citizens, over three years

$20,000

Legacy Project of Stark , to support curriculum books and mentor training for low-income school districts

$15,000

Pegasus Farm , to support horticultural training and educational services

$26,269

Tiqvah Hands of Hope , to support an after-school program serving Canton children

$40,000

United Way of Greater Stark County , to support a portion of the costs covered through United Way sources for school-based teams that Coordinate and Align Resources to Engage, Empower, and Educate our youth, known as CARE Teams

$150,000

Vantage Aging , to support daily meals that are home-delivered to low-income individuals in Stark County, over two years

$70,000

 

Strategic Collaborations: Our work alongside others to launch programs that build capacity and increase effectiveness in community services. Total: $150,000

YMCA of Central Stark County , to support the Director of Community Development position, over three years
