SISTERS OF CHARITY FOUNDATION AWARDS $408,012 FOR SUMMER PROGRAMMING
Canton, Ohio (April 21, 2021) The Board of Directors of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton has announced $408,012 in grant funding.
According to Foundation President Joni Close, “These grants will provide enhanced reading and math support for children participating in summer programs, in an effort to minimize pandemic-related learning loss. The funding will enhance educational opportunities for children who have missed out on so much during this difficult period. Along with a strong focus on reading and math, support for children’s social and emotional well-being was a high priority for us. Also, the partnership with Stark Library, targeting Canton City’s rising kindergarteners through third graders, will serve both summer program participants and children who are learning at home. Research has repeatedly shown that summer learning loss is a significant challenge for students. School closures during the pandemic make the need for summer support even more critical.”
